After being tasked with the re-skin of 1 of many applications at RealPage, I knew that a re-skin wouldn’t solve any UX issues. I started to work on an innovative skunkworks project on my own time that not only solved a lot of these UX issues, but also potentially could change the way the business is heading. I entitled the project “Focus.” It’s intent was to be a modular system that would allow the user to create their own interface. Due to being modular, it would also allow for multiple applications within RealPage to merge. This not only makes things better for the user, but also allows for a simplified development process and pricing structure since we are able to focus on features instead of individual products.
